Fort Lauderdale in late June has a rhythm all its own. The tourists have thinned out, the snowbirds are long gone, and what’s left is the city at its most authentically itself locals on the water, long golden evenings, and a social calendar that doesn’t slow down just because it’s summer. Here’s how to spend the week.
On the Water
This is the week Fort Lauderdale earns its title. Rent a boat or join a sunset cruise along the Intracoastal and watch the city from the water. It's a completely different perspective, and one that reminds you why people pay a premium to live here. The New River at dusk is particularly worth your time. If you’re more of a paddler, kayak rentals along the Riverwalk put you at water level through one of the city’s most scenic corridors.
Dining Worth the Reservation
Las Olas Boulevard remains the heartbeat of Fort Lauderdale dining, and late June is when the restaurants are at their most relaxed and attentive, no holiday rush, no wait lists. Steak 954 at the W Fort Lauderdale is reliably excellent for a waterfront dinner. For something more intimate, explore the side streets off Las Olas where the smaller, chef-driven spots are doing their best work. Make a reservation. Show up hungry.
Arts & Culture
The NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale continues to be one of South Florida’s most underrated cultural institutions. Their current exhibitions are worth an afternoon, especially if you’re pairing it with a walk through the Sailboat Bend arts district nearby. Check their events calendar summer programming often includes evening openings and curator talks that draw a particularly interesting crowd.
Neighborhood Worth Exploring
If you haven’t spent time in Victoria Park recently, this is the week to go. The tree-lined streets, mix of architectural styles, and walkable proximity to downtown make it one of the city’s most livable neighborhoods. It’s also a strong indicator of where Fort Lauderdale’s luxury residential market is heading. Values here have held with remarkable consistency.
For the Weekend
Saturday morning at the Las Olas Farmers Market is a Fort Lauderdale ritual worth keeping. Fresh produce, local vendors, excellent coffee, and a crowd that represents the city at its most community-minded. From there, the beach is a fifteen-minute walk. Fort Lauderdale Beach in late June belongs to the locals, and it shows.
However you spend the week, the city is at its most genuine right now. Enjoy it.
